What I did for my DC

So i started by making sure my hair was clean with Kinky Curly "Come Clean"

...then...

I added my Giovanni "Smooth as Silk" deep conditioner...

I did enough detangling with my shower comb to get it in to a few plaits

...like so, with the deep conditioner still in my hair

I added a plastic bag to my head and kept it in for a few hours.  When done, I rinsed my hair, with braids still in tact and removed all deep conditioner.  At that point I grabed my shower comb again, undid each section and braided it into smaller plaits using...

...my Kinky Curly "Knot Today" to assist with a full detangling process. After that I went to bed and undid my braids that morning to unveil a fresh DO!!

Importance of Deep Conditioning

...So...I have been slacking on my hair lately (I know, I know) not that I am proud of it, I have just been busy...being busy. lol.  I woke up one day and wondered why my hair felt like a Brillo pad (S.O.S) and realized i hadn't been on my routine. Our hair NEEDS...let me repeat that NEEDS moisture and when it doesn't get it...it acts out. Simple as that. I recommend DC once a week if you are able to and bi-weekly if your schedule is busy. Having natural hair doesn't mean you don't still have to provide a little TLC to your tress.  I am trying to school you so you can learn from my mistake.

The weather will be changing soon which means your routine does too...lets show the world how sexy Natural hair is.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

So I have been reading about my fellow Naturals using apple cider vinegar to rinse their hair. For a while I have just put this off, but being that I am going on my 2nd year natural, I am up for trying new things. I'm kind of at a point where I don't know exactly I want to do with my hair right now. I have thought about dreads for a few months now (although many have talked me out of this...for now) but I am looking to do different things with my hair while still using natural products. I'll be back with a review of how this worked for me =) Stay Tuned!

Summer Time

Okay, so the weather is getting hotter (in most places) and that means it is time to switch up the hair routine. In low humidity climate glycerin is not suggested on natural hair...well as the weather gets warmer, this may be something you want to reconsider. It adds moisture to dry brittle hair. Also, make sure you drink PLENTY of WATER!!! This helps moisturize your hair from the inside out. Whatever it is that you do, just reevaluate your daily routine...this is the time where you need to make some changes. Have fun with your hair!

Leave in Conditioner

SOOOO...I may have just found my new favorite YouTube personality, Kim Love of KimmayTube. I have learned so much in the last 14 minutes by watching her videos.

She came up with a mixture for a leave-in conditioner (I can't wait to try it) and it seems pretty good. I do suggest you go and check her out, but I have the recipe here for you now.

1oz-Kinky Curly Knot Today (leave-in conditioner)
2tsp-Castor Oil
2tsp-Jojoba Oil
2tbsp-Aloe Vera Juice (4.5-4.0 Ph Balance)

Mix it well and I am sure your hair will thank you. Being that I use 2 of the 4 products currently I am very anxious to switch things up. It seems that my hair has hit a point of rebellion.
